A home inspection is mostly visual. However, some tools are needed to aid the inspector. We invest in and use professional quality brand name (Fluke, Flir, GE, Nikon, DJI) instruments and tools. Our founder Michael comes from the electrical and metrology industries. We try to ensure our collected data is both accurate and testable in any forum. We therefore ensure all measuring instruments are certified annually by either their respective manufacturer, or by an independent ISO 9002 certified lab, with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceability.
Instruments that may fall into this category includes, but are not limited to the following:
- Thermal imagers
- Spot thermometers
- Moisture detectors/meters
- Gas (including CO) detectors
- Meters or voltage detectors
- Digital thermometers
Some instruments such as thermometers we can verify accuracy and functionality ourselves. For example electronic thermometers and humidity meters are verified by using a Taylor™ sling psychrometer.
We are serious about our work. So having the proper tools, in proper working order and verifiable by an independent party, are key components in ensuring good quality work.
